A recent study conducted in office buildings in Singapore says that work spaces in offices can harbor 450 percent more bacteria than a toilet.
Researchers in the study used advanced lumitesting technology that is usually used in workplaces that require especially clean environments, such as industries involved in the processing or preparation of food. Chair handles, computer mice, keyboards, door handles, pantries, faucets, and toilet seat covers at the offices were all tested using the technology.
Chair handles at work spaces in offices were found to harbor the most bacteria of anything in an office. The handles tested were found to have 3,947 bacteria per square inch, or BPSI.
