A recent survey suggests condominium sales in the downtown Austin area are beginning to see a slight rise. Throughout the months of January and February, the sales were not increasing as expected, but March was a better month for purchases.
There were 17 condominiums sold in four new complexes downtown throughout March. The four new complexes include the Four Seasons Residences, the W Residences, the Spring condominiums, and the Austonian. The four new buildings opened their doors in 2009, and since then 513 of the 732 units have been purchased.
Developers connected with these projects believe that the prices for new condominiums most likely won’t increase once these condos are all sold. They said that since the economic recession, potential buyers are not willing to purchase a home upfront, and most new units would need nearly 50 percent of the building paid for before construction could begin.
