Moving out and cleaning up

Posted on April 5th, 2012 No Comments

Moving in and out of apartments in Austin can be an extreme hassle. Leases end at all times during the year, and relocating can be strenuous and stressful. After you have packed up your belongings and hired movers, you may be left with scuffed walls and stained carpets.

Most leasing companies charge you if your apartment is not in pristine condition after you leave. This means that you have to clean areas in depth, including the kitchen, living room, bathrooms, and bedrooms. This could take up valuable time that could be better spent organizing and situating yourself in your new place.

Hiring an experienced move-out cleaning company could save you stress and money. Professional cleaners are able to clean your apartment from top to bottom, and therefore you will be able to avoid added fees for dirty areas of your place upon move-out.

If you are planning on moving out of  your apartment soon, and are in need of professional cleaners, please contact the Austin move-out cleaners of WOW Total Cleaning by calling 512-656-6569 today.

The importance of cleaning warehouses and factories

Posted on March 1st, 2012 No Comments

Just because customers may not be entering a business’s warehouse, factory, or industrial facility, does not mean that keeping these areas clean is not important. Often, large spaces like warehouses are simply swept every now and then because cleaning them seems overwhelming. An experienced janitorial staff can help combat this and ensure that your employees are satisfied with their work environment.

One of the most important reasons to maintain a clean warehouse or factory is that it will make employees feel more respected and appreciated, increasing their morale. Keeping a workplace clean shows staff that you care about their satisfaction and health. Another important reason is that there are often fewer slips and falls and other accidents when a warehouse is clean. Even a small pile of dust build-up could lead to a worker falling and becoming injured. Lastly, cleanliness will also promote healthiness for your employees, minimizing allergies and illness.

If you or someone you know is interested in hiring experienced janitorial professionals to clean a warehouse or factory, contact the Austin factory and industrial facility janitors of WOW Total Cleaning at 512-656-6569 to learn more about our services.

State proposes requiring green cleaning in all schools

Posted on February 28th, 2012 No Comments

Two members of the Tennessee Congress have introduced bills that would require green cleaning in all schools in the state by introducing a “Green Cleaning Schools Act.” The bills propose having the Department of Education enforce green cleaning policies, such as requiring the use of only environmentally friendly cleaning products and processes.

Legislators created the two bills after a Department of Education study into the benefits of green cleaning at schools proved successful. An elementary school and middle school in the state compared their cleaning practices from before the study to after the study. The middle school found that they saved 17 percent in cleaning costs with green cleaning, while the elementary school saved 8 percent. However, officials said that the elementary school’s numbers were slightly skewed, and their savings were actually closer to 15 percent.

Cleaning products can aggravate asthma for some

Posted on February 20th, 2012 No Comments

A professor at UNC Charlotte recently completed a study into asthma in the workplace. According to the study, individuals working in the health care industry are the most likely to experience symptoms of asthma while working because so many chemicals and cleaning products are used in these workplaces.

Many health care professionals surveyed in the study said that exposure to products containing bleach, ammonia, and chlorine aggravate their asthma. One nurse said that she had to take a leave of absence because her asthma was affecting her work and she eventually lost her job. Other things that can aggravate asthma include colognes, perfumes, lotions and popery.

Green cleaning is a safe and healthy option for health care providers, as well as other businesses. Contact the Austin green cleaning janitors of WOW Total Cleaning at 512-656-6569 to learn more about the benefits of green cleaning.

GWU to increase cleaning services to prevent spread of illness

Posted on February 16th, 2012 No Comments

This week, George Washington University in Washington D.C. announced that they will be increasing their cleaning services in order to prevent the spread of norovirus. Currently, about 85 students at the university have contracted the illness.

The most common ways people spread viruses like norovirus is by touching common surfaces and objects, such as doorknobs, and then touching the face. In addition, contaminated foods and direct contact with a sick person will also increase one’s chances of becoming ill.

Norovirus does not have a vaccine or standard treatment, so officials with the university are taking all measures to prevent other students, faculty, and visitors from getting it. Janitorial services will increase in common areas and parts of campus that have heavy traffic. In addition, stands supplying hand sanitizer will be set up throughout GWU.

If your school or academic facility is in need of a professional janitorial staff to ensure a clean and healthy environment for your students and staff, contact the Austin school janitors of WOW Total Cleaning at 512-656-6569 today.
